Earl Adam Wildermuth funeral card, 1977
The printed memorial card from the December 1977 funeral of Earl Adam Wildermuth — Robert Earl Wildermuth’s father and Chuck’s great-grandfather on the maternal side. The card records:
- Born: October 6, 1899
- Passed away: December 6, 1977
- Funeral services: McClure-Schafer Funeral Home, December 9, 1977, 1 p.m.
- Officiating: Jess Nutter
- Interment: Valley Cemetery
The facing panel prints Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s poem “Crossing the Bar.”
The card confirms the birth and death dates carried on Earl Adam’s page — 6 October 1899 and 6 December 1977. Two details are worth reconciling with the family: the card gives the interment as Valley Cemetery and the funeral home as McClure-Schafer, whereas his page currently records burial at Reno, Washington County, Ohio; and his page’s summary mentions a stroke on 8 December 1977, which falls after the card’s 6 December death date, so one of those two dates is off by a few days. Both are flagged here for confirmation against the funeral record rather than silently changed.
