Terrie in the south-side garden, May 2011
Terrie sitting in front of a fully bloomed pink azalea in her garden in Marietta, photographed on 6 May 2011 — six years before her death. The caption on the original print is written in the household’s own hand and gives her name with both the maiden and married surnames she carried: “Terrie (Wildermuth) Bain.”
This is the literal answer to the “warmed by God’s sun with flowers my best” line in the poem she would later write for her own memorial. The azalea was the south-side garden’s centerpiece for years.
