Elizabeth Davis
also known as maiden name not yet recovered
b. 1781, Kingston-on-Thames, Surrey, England (as recorded in the family tree)
Elizabeth Davis is Chuck’s maternal five-times-great-grandmother on the Davis line — wife of William Davis (1764–1851) and mother of Joseph Davis (1819–1896).
She was born about 1781, and the family tree records her birthplace as Kingston-on-Thames, in Surrey, England — an English origin that, if borne out, would make her a rare English-born ancestor on an otherwise German-and-Scots maternal side. Her maiden name has not yet been recovered — the record carries her only under her married name, “Elizabeth Davis” — so the English placement is best treated as a lead to confirm rather than a settled fact until the maiden family and a primary source turn up. Recovering those is the open end of this, the deepest couple on the Davis branch.
Through Joseph she is an ancestor of William Armstrong Davis, Homer Edward Davis, Dorothy Marie Davis Wildermuth, and Chuck.
