Ottilie Wildermuth
also known as Ottilie Rooschüz, maiden
b. 1817-02-22, Marbach am Neckar, Württemberg
d. 1877-07-12
Ottilie Wildermuth — born Ottilie Rooschüz on February 22, 1817 in Marbach am Neckar, died July 12, 1877 — was the writer whose name carried the surname into civic memory in this part of Württemberg. She was the daughter of Gottlob Rooschüz, district judge in Marbach; she lived from 1825 to 1839 in the house at Marktstraße 25 that had been built in 1824–25 as the district court for her father.
Her connection to the family is by marriage: she married Johannes David Wildermuth. Whether Johannes David is a direct ancestor of the Marietta Wildermuths or a collateral relative is not yet established in this archive.
Chuck’s 2018 photograph of the memorial plaque on her childhood home is the source of her exact dates, her maiden name, and her father’s identity — none of which appeared in the family’s prior records.
