Breitenbach

Catherina Boeshar's birthplace (1840) — the maternal side of the German line. The one stop on the family pilgrimage no Wildermuth has yet reached.

Why this place matters

The open chapter. Robert Earl planned to visit in 1993 and gave up the side trip; Chuck repeated the rest of the route in his own generation but hasn't made it here either. Catherina Boeshar — wife of Johann Michael, the Marietta immigrant — was born here in 1840. Until someone gets to Breitenbach, this place stays on the site as an unfinished page.

Open chapter

This place is named in the records but no one in the family has yet visited. The page is held open intentionally — a future trip closes it.

Breitenbach, in the Rhineland-Palatinate, is where Catherina Boeshar was born in 1840 before emigrating to Marietta and marrying Johann Michael Wildermuth. Robert Earl planned a side trip here in 1993 and didn’t make it. Chuck retraced the rest of the route in his own generation and didn’t make it either. Until one of us does, this page stays open: the place we know about, named in the records, photographed by no one in the family.

A future visit — by Chuck, by his children, by any descendant — closes this chapter. Until then it is held open intentionally.
