Tenure celebration at Hana House — 2021

Chuck Eesley and Lijie Zhou at Stanford’s Hana House for the celebration of Chuck’s tenure, 2021. He had been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in Stanford’s Department of Management Science & Engineering in 2017; the in-person celebration came later, delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hana House sits in a Japanese-style garden on the Stanford campus — the stone lantern, the water-steps, and the brick terraces behind them here — a setting that quietly rhymes with the East-Asian design thread that runs through the family, from Will Eesley’s Japan-and-Hong-Kong-influenced Highland Ridge house to Lijie’s roots in Qingdao. Its companion is the full-professor celebration in the same garden five years later.
