Terrie at the Stanford fountain

Terrie Lee at the White Memorial Fountain in the heart of the Stanford campus — the same bronze “Claw” by Aristides Demetrios that her mother Dottie had stood at on 24 August 1965 holding the youngest of Terrie’s siblings — her brother Uncle Rob as a toddler — in the family return-visit photograph. Terrie thirty-some years on, in a green blouse, Memorial Court arches behind her — a return to the campus her father had crossed on the GI Bill and her son would later join as faculty.

It is the single photograph in the archive of Terrie alone on the Stanford campus — the visit photographs of her father (1948–49), of the family in the 1960s, and of her at the Alumni Center with her father’s yearbook are the rest of the family’s Stanford record; this one is the one without anyone else in the frame, the campus simply visited.
