Wildermuth Family of Marietta, Ohio (Wildermuth & Bain, 2005–2009)
A book-length genealogy, 'Wildermuth Family of Marietta, Ohio,' compiled by Robert Earl Wildermuth I with Benjamin F. Bain II between 19 October 2005 and 31 March 2009 — the most systematic descendant-and-associated-family register on the maternal Wildermuth side. Its title page names the major associated families it traces: Bailey, Bartlett, Dunbar, Dotson, Fleming, Gain, Kelley, Schlicher, and Seyler. The volume runs well over a hundred pages and interweaves census abstracts, county marriage records, and transcribed family letters. It opens with the epigraph 'Can one tell where he's going until he knows where he's been?' NOTE: the full scanned book is not yet held in this archive; individual pages surfaced by Chuck Eesley in 2026 are being transcribed as they arrive.
“Wildermuth Family of Marietta, Ohio” is the book-length genealogy that Robert Earl Wildermuth — the family’s own retired genealogist — compiled with Benjamin F. Bain II between 19 October 2005 and 31 March 2009. Where his memoir and combat log are first-person narrative, this volume is the systematic descendant-and-associated-family record on the maternal Wildermuth side.
Its title page lists the major associated families it traces alongside the Wildermuths:

and opens with the epigraph the family motto could be built on:
“Can one tell where he’s going until he knows where he’s been?”
The book interweaves census abstracts, county marriage records, and transcribed family letters — so it is both a genealogy and a small letter archive in its own right. Pages surfaced so far include the Fleming section (with the Adam Archboe Fleming Civil War account) and transcriptions of family letters — among them a letter from Peggy Eesley to Charles and Terrie, Chuck’s 2007 letter to his mother, and a 2010 letter from Jo Haddox to Terrie.
