Edwin William Burnes

Edwin William Burnes was the husband of Helen Louise “Little Helen” (Eesley) Burnes — the youngest of Charles Leonard and Lillie Dale Chenoweth Eesley’s eight children — which makes him Chuck’s great-uncle by marriage on the paternal Eesley side.
He was born 27 April 1924 in Newaygo, Michigan, married Helen in 1946, and the couple made their home in Worthington, Ohio. He died in 2007 in Bushnell, Florida.

Edwin and Helen had seven children — a son and six daughters:
- Brian Carlson Burnes (b. 1948) — the eldest and only son
- Barb (Burnes) Hester — the oldest daughter, keeper of the photocopied set of Charles Leonard’s 1940s letters
- Shelley Burnes
- Cindy Burnes
- Liz Burnes
- Roberta Burnes — keeper of the 1940s Eesley letter collection and one of the archive’s principal paternal-side sources
- Katie (Burnes) McKeel
Through his daughter Roberta especially, the Burnes household became one of the main conduits by which the Charles Leonard Eesley documentary record reached this archive.
