Lyle Stuart Eesley

Lyle Stuart Eesley is the eldest of Donald Stuart “Don” Eesley and Margaret Adelyne “Peggy” Youman Eesley’s three children — Chuck Eesley’s first cousin once removed on the paternal Eesley side. His siblings are Robert Douglas Eesley and Marilyn Eesley (Elkins). He married Linda Cash, and per Bean’s register their children are Danielle Elizabeth (b. 31 October 1971), Charles Stuart (b. 14 December 1973), and Donald Steven (b. 24 June 1975).

The namesake

Lyle Stuart Eesley was named for his uncle Lyle Eesley, one of Charles Leonard Eesley’s eight children — Don’s brother — who died on 25 July 1942 at the Cabanatuan Prison Camp on Luzon in the Philippines, almost certainly a Bataan Death March survivor who did not survive the camp. The elder Lyle had been twenty-five years old. Lyle Stuart was born six years after his uncle’s death; the family’s memorial-naming carries the WWII Eesley loss forward into the next generation. The two Lyle Eesleys — the uncle who died in Japanese captivity and the nephew named for him — sit alongside the Charles Leonard-side family’s broader wartime memorial pattern that runs through Stella Sunn’s arrival in Bexley shortly after the elder Lyle’s death (per Roberta Burnes’s July 2019 family-email reconstruction).
