Nora Angie Way

b. 1876-02-23, Noble County, Ohio
d. 1939-12-30, Noble County, Ohio

Nora Angie Way was one of the older Way sisters — born 23 February 1876 in Noble County, Ohio, a daughter of Edward E. Way (1851–1924) and Tacy Elizabeth Matthews (1848–1902). She was a sister of Belsora “Belle” Way Wickens and of Victoria Anna Way Davis — Chuck’s maternal great-great-grandmother — making Nora a great-great-aunt of Chuck’s and an aunt of the one-year-old Homer Edward Davis in the family’s 1901 wedding portrait, where the numbered key lists her first, as “Nora Way Hutchens.”

On 19 June 1900, the year before that wedding, she had married John Ernest Hutchins. Unlike her sister Emma, who went west and died young in Wyoming, Nora stayed in the country she was born in. She died 30 December 1939 in Noble County, Ohio, at sixty-three, and was buried at Crooked Tree Cemetery — the same Way family ground that holds her parents and sisters, a life lived nearly whole within a single Ohio county.
