Byron and Nettie (Ullman) Hill with their children — c. 1920

A formal studio portrait of Ida Jeanetta “Nettie” (Ullman) Hill and her husband Byron E. Hill with their children, c. 1919–1922. Nettie stands at left in a dark dress with a white collar; Byron at right, a slim young man in wire-rimmed glasses and a dark suit. In front are three of their children — an older boy in a bow tie at center, a younger boy in a sailor collar at right, and a baby in a wicker bassinet.

Nettie married Byron on 20 March 1912, so the eldest child here (about seven or eight) and the babe-in-arms place the frame at roughly 1919–1922 — consistent with Nettie, born June 1892, appearing to be in her late twenties. Byron would die in 1932, when these children were still young.

The children’s names are not yet recorded in this archive. The 1920 U.S. Census for Byron E. Hill’s Ohio household would list each of them by name and age — the natural next step to identify the three young faces in this frame.
