Blanche Wildermuth

Blanche Wildermuth is named in the family GEDCOM as the ninth and youngest child of William Clifford Wildermuth and Flora Schlicher Wildermuth — with no recorded dates of birth or death. The combination of name-on-record-without-dates is consistent with early-childhood death, the kind of loss that families recorded by name but did not place into the gravestone-and-record trail of older siblings.

If Blanche died in early childhood — the most likely reading — she is the second child William Clifford and Flora lost in infancy, alongside her older brother William Jr. (d. December 1897, age twenty months). Out of nine children, the Marietta-Wildermuth household carried seven into adulthood: Mae Clara, Charles Daniel, Margaret Zelma, Emma, the twins Earl Adam and Pearl, and George D. The two losses were the youngest of the male line (William Jr.) and the youngest of the female line (Blanche — presumed).

Robert Earl’s 1990 Wildermuth/Fleming Heritage and the Dale Eesley GEDCOM name Blanche; neither has surfaced her dates. If a Marietta family-Bible record, a gravestone in one of the West Side cemeteries, or a turn-of-the-century newspaper notice surfaces with her dates, the page can be deepened.
