George D. Wildermuth
also known as George Wildermuth
b. 1902-10-30, Marietta, Washington County, Ohio
d. 1976-01-19, Marietta, Washington County, Ohio
George D. Wildermuth was the eighth of William Clifford and Flora Schlicher’s nine children — born 30 October 1902 in Marietta, Washington County, Ohio, three years after the October 1899 twin birth of his older siblings Earl Adam and Pearl.
He lived his entire life in Marietta and died there 19 January 1976, age 73. The Marietta-arc spans his birth in the early 1900s through the city’s transformation across the twentieth century and his death the year before his older brother Earl Adam’s own December 1977 death.
George’s life and the year of his death — both within Marietta — place him in close proximity to his older brother Earl Adam at 413 Harmar Street through long stretches of the twentieth century. As Robert Earl was growing up at the Harmar Street house in the 1920s and 1930s, his Uncle George lived in the same town; he would have been at family gatherings, holidays, and the 1937 flood that ran through the Wildermuth household. Whether he married, had children, or his trade and occupation are recorded is open research.
