Gilbert Clement McMaster
b. 1833
d. 1906, Pennsylvania (presumed)
Gilbert Clement McMaster was born in 1833 and died in 1906, age 73. He was photographed by the Richards studio of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, in the mid-1850s or early 1860s — the cabinet card, pasted onto dark card stock, shows him as a serious young man with what Maggie Eesley’s catalogue describes as a “walrus mustache.”
He married Margaret Thompson McMaster (1835–1910), and together they had at least two sons: Erasmus Darwin McMaster and Robert Thompson McMaster — twins born 1866. Erasmus died young of a weakened heart; Robert lived with the same condition until age 55.
He is Maggie Eesley’s great-grandfather, which makes him Chuck’s great-great-grandfather along the line that runs through Robert Thompson McMaster → Peggy McMaster Eesley → Charles McMaster Eesley → Chuck.
