Barbara Phillipp

Barbara Phillipp — the GEDCOM names her Anna Barbara Phillipp — was born 9 October 1712 in Großaspach, a daughter of Martin Philipp and Anna Dorothea Brodt. She married Johann Georg Werner on 11 February 1738. Their daughter Anna Maria Werner was born 9 June 1739.

She died 26 March 1742, age thirty-one — only four years after her marriage and three years after Anna Maria’s birth. Robert Earl’s 1989 “Little History” names her early death directly:

Barbara Phillipp, wife of Johann Georg Werner, was born on 9 October 1712 and died on 26 March 1742. Her age at death was only thirty-one.

The “only” in that sentence is the rare moment in the sketches where Robert Earl lets the mortality of the early-18th-century Württemberg generations land as something other than a record of dates — a thirty-one-year-old woman dying in 1742, with a three-year-old daughter, is the kind of fact that ran silently behind every long pedigree of that era.
