The Wolf and Werner ancestor charts — two sheets that correct three published dates

Two more sheets from the printed chart set, in the same boxed format — “Ancestors of Johann Georg Wolf” and “Ancestors of Anna Marie Werner.” They cover the Württemberg generation the 1988 Ahnentafel already reached, which makes them look redundant.
They are not. Because they print dates in English words rather than German figures, they catch three errors this archive had published — all of them the archive’s own reading mistakes, not Robert Earl’s.
Ancestors of Johann Georg Wolf

| Person | Chart |
|---|---|
| Johann Georg Wolf | b. 20 June 1742, Rohroch, Duchy of Württemberg · m. 1 November 1763, Großaspach · d. 28 April 1816, Großaspach |
| Balthous Wolf | b. 1710, Reichenberg, Duchy of Württemberg · m. 27 January 1732/33, Großaspach · d. 6 December 1787, Großaspach |
| Magdalina Ubele | b. 10 August 1711, Großaspach · d. 13 February 1769, Großaspach |
Ancestors of Anna Marie Werner

| Person | Chart |
|---|---|
| Anna Marie Werner | b. 9 June 1739, Großaspach · m. 1 November 1763, Großaspach · d. 27 February 1811, Großaspach |
| Johann George Werner | m. 11 February 1737/38, Großaspach — no birth or death, as everywhere else |
| Anna Barbara Phillipp | b. 9 October 1712, Großaspach · d. 26 March 1743, Großaspach |
What they correct
1. Balthus Wolf was born at Reichenberg, not Großaspach. The archive had him born in the village he died in. The chart gives Reichenberg — a village that stayed independent until it was absorbed into Oppenweiler in 1938, and which lies next door to Aspach. The Ahnentafel’s “Balthus Wolf, Großaspach” was recording residence, which is what that form does throughout. He married in.
2. The Wolf marriage was 27 January 1733, not 27 July. The Ahnentafel writes ∞ 27.1.1733 in the German day-first order. This archive read it as July. The chart spells it: “January 27, 1732/33.” (The double year is the old-style/new-style convention that attaches to January dates, not a disagreement about which year.)
3. Magdalena Übele was born in 1711, not 1717 — and was not a child bride. The Ahnentafel’s photograph shows * 10.8.171? with the final digit unreadable, and this archive filled the gap with 1717. The chart prints “August 10, 1711.”
That single digit had been doing a lot of damage. Combined with the July/January error, it produced a published claim that she married “seventeen days short of her sixteenth birthday.” On the corrected dates she was twenty-one at her wedding and fifty-seven at her death, not fifty-two. Both her page and her husband’s have been rewritten.
What they confirm
Anna Barbara Phillipp, b. 9 October 1712, d. 26 March 1743 — exactly as the Ahnentafel has it. (Robert Earl’s own “Little Histories” sketch says she died 26 March 1742 at thirty-one; on the 1743 date she was thirty. The two chart-and-Ahnentafel sources agree on 1743 against his earlier prose.)
Johann George Werner, married 11 February 1737/38 — matching the Ahnentafel’s ∞ 11.2.1738, and still with no birth or death anywhere. He remains the line-end on the Werner side, as Robert Earl said in 1989: “His birth and death dates are unknown.” Three separate sources now, and none of them knows.
One conflict left open
Anna Maria Werner’s death year. The chart says 27 February 1811. The Ahnentafel, compiled in Germany from the Großaspach parish registers, says 27 February 1817. Same day, same month, six years apart.
The archive keeps 1817. The Ahnentafel is the nearer source — Karl Lachenmaier reading the church books directly — and these charts are database output at one remove. Recorded here as a variant, not adopted.
Also unresolved, and unchanged by these sheets: Johann Georg Wolf’s birthplace, written “Rohroch” here, Rohrbach on the Ahnentafel, against the Röhrach of the rest of the family. Probably all one village. Not yet proven to be.
