Johann Georg Wolf
Johann Georg Wolf married Anna Maria Werner (b. 1739) in the Aspach villages of Württemberg; their daughter Catharina Dorothea Wolf (1766) married Adam Wildermuth, carrying the Wolf and Werner–Phillipp lines into the Wildermuth descent. His own birth, death, and parentage are not yet recorded here.

The shoemaker the trade came from
Robert Earl’s sketch of him carries five words the archive had missed: “Johann was an early German shoemaker.” The 1988 Ahnentafel, compiled in Germany from the Großaspach parish registers, gives the same thing in the original: Schuhmacher in Großaspach.
That relocates the origin of the family’s long shoemaking trade. It has been treated as a Wildermuth trade running from Johann Christian (b. 1794) to his emigrant son Johann Michael, who worked at it in Marietta for fifty years. But Johann Christian’s father Adam was a weaver, and Adam’s father Andreas a vine-dresser. The shoemaking comes in through Johann Georg — Johann Christian’s maternal grandfather, by way of his daughter Catharina Dorothea Wolf.
Four generations of shoemakers, and the line runs Wolf → Wildermuth, not down the Wildermuth male line at all.
His own parents were Balthus Wolf (1710–1787) and Magdalena Ubele (1717–1769), both of Großaspach. The Ahnentafel adds his death — 28 April 1816 at Großaspach — which his sketch left as an age only, and gives his birthplace as Rohrbach.
