Franklin R. B. Eesley was born in 1898 and died in 1908, at about ten years old — the third child of John Franklin Eesley and Kittie Belle Scott, and the second of their three children to die before adulthood.
He carried his father’s middle name. By the year of his birth the Sunshine Flour Mill was established on West Bridge Street; by the year of his death his father had already split the mill building in two and moved it across town (1903–04). The boy’s ten years span the mill’s rise.
Of the three children, only his brother Harold John Eesley (1893–1977) reached adulthood; his sister Iva Belle died in infancy in 1888.
