Kittie Belle Scott Eesley

Kittie Belle Scott was born and lived her entire life within a few miles of the future Eesley mill: Gun Plain Township is the next township east of Plainwell, in Allegan County, Michigan. She married John Franklin Eesley in Plainwell on 8 September 1885, the year before he made his big land swap to move the mill to its East Bridge Street site, and remained there through the mill’s prime years, its purchase by the Plainwell Elevator Company after John F.’s 1929 death, and well into the Depression and the Second World War. She died 10 February 1946 in Plainwell, age 81, and was buried two days later.
