Jacob Schmidgall
Jacob Schmidgall is the line-end on the Schmidgall side. Robert Earl’s 1989 “Little History” for him is a single paragraph:
Jacob Schmidgall, the father of Georg Wilhelm and one of our fourth great-grandfathers, was a farmer in Großhöchberg. His wife’s name is unknown as is his birth and death dates.
The village of Großhöchberg sits in the Backnang district, in the Spiegelberg sub-region of the Württemberg hills — further inland and higher than the Röhrach his son Georg Wilhelm Schmidgall later farmed. The move from Großhöchberg to Röhrach is the Schmidgall-side intra-Württemberg migration of the late 18th century.
The Schmidgall surname is locally associated with the Schwäbisch Hall area of Württemberg and traces back through Schmiedgrall / Schmidgaul spellings in the 17th-century parish records. Beyond Jacob, the line is open research.
