Rebecca 'Becky' Lynne (Angel) Davis

also known as Becky Angel, maiden; Mrs. William Harvey Davis Sr.

Rebecca “Becky” Lynne Angel Davis is the daughter of Faye Angel (Chuck’s godmother) and Theodore “Ted” Angel — and the wife of William Harvey Davis Sr., the youngest brother of Chuck’s grandmother Dorothy Davis Wildermuth and great-aunt Betty Davis Wolfe.

The marriage that joined the two families — 16 August 1963

Becky’s marriage to Bill Sr. is the structural genealogical bridge between the Angel and Davis-Wildermuth lines:

  • Date and place: 16 August 1963, Washington Township, Monroe County, Ohio.
  • Bill Sr. had just turned 22; Becky was the young daughter of the Marietta-College-Book-Store-and-picture-framing-business Angels.
  • Through the marriage, Faye and Ted Angel became the in-laws of the Davis line.
  • Becky is Chuck’s great-aunt by marriage — specifically the wife of his maternal great-uncle Bill Sr.
  • Faye Angel becoming Chuck’s godmother in 1979 is the natural godparent choice for someone whose daughter is already married into Chuck’s grandmother’s brother’s branch — not just close friendship but family-by-marriage.

Children

Becky and Bill Sr. had at least one son and one daughter. Three children identified in the c. 1992 Davis-Angel family portrait and presumed to be Becky and Bill Sr.’s:

  • William Harvey Davis Jr. — their eldest son, named for his father.
  • Homer Edward Davis — presumed second son, named for his grandfather Homer Edward Davis Sr.
  • Kimberly Ann Davis — presumed daughter, the youngest figure in the front row of the 1992 portrait.

In the 1992 portrait

Becky is front row center-right of the c. 1992 Davis-Angel family portrait — identified in the typed caption as “Rebecca ‘Becky’ Lynne (Angel) Davis,” seated between her mother Faye Angel and her sister-in-law Betty Wolfe (Bill Sr.’s sister), with her husband Bill Sr. behind her in the back row. The full-maiden-and-married name pattern of the caption is the family’s deliberate documentation of the marriage that joined the two families.

Later life in Indiana

At her mother Faye’s death in November 2011, Becky was living in Fishers, Indiana — an Indianapolis suburb. Bill Sr. by 2008 lived in Gap Mills, West Virginia; whether they were still together at the time of Faye’s death or had separated is open research. Bill Sr. died in 2022 in West Virginia.
