William Wildermuth
also known as William Wildermuth, son of Edward Frederick; the boy on the tricycle
The small boy on the tricycle in the outdoor family snapshot — the son of Edward Frederick Wildermuth (1873–1964) and Arminda Jane (Hayes) Wildermuth (1886–1967) of Marietta, Ohio, identified by Chuck Eesley’s July 2026 face-tagging. In the photograph his grandmother Catharina Boeshar sits at the center as the matriarch.
Because his parents married on 15 April 1918 and he looks about four or five in the picture, he was most likely born around 1919–1920. He is a grandson of the immigrant Johann Michael Wildermuth and Catharina Boeshar, and a nephew of William Clifford Wildermuth.
There are three different William Wildermuths close together in this branch, worth keeping straight: his uncle William Clifford Wildermuth (b. 1866, Chuck’s great-great-grandfather); a cousin named William (b. 1896), William Clifford’s own second son; and this boy, Edward Frederick’s son. He is a first cousin three times removed of Chuck on the maternal Wildermuth side.
Open questions
The family GEDCOM does not record any children for Edward Frederick and Arminda, so William is documented by the family photograph and Chuck’s identification rather than by the descendant tree. His exact birth and death dates, whether he had siblings, and his adult life in (presumably) Marietta are all open — the kind of detail the Marietta records could settle. For now he is anchored by his face in the family portrait.
