周燕 — 周兆帧与Su Ying Xian之女，与周伟为双胞胎，1970年生。妹周亮生于1976年。
她出生并成长于父亲被分配去的阳信。1991年全家调回青岛时她二十岁 — 这次调动是堂兄周玲（丽婕之父）多年奔走才办成的。她与姊妹三人此后的人生，皆由此一转。

Zhou Yan is a daughter of Zhou Zhaozheng and Su Ying Xian, and one of the twins born in 1970. Their younger sister Zhou Liang followed in 1976.
She was born and raised in Yangxin County, in the far north of Shandong, where the state had posted her father and would not let him leave. She was twenty when the family’s transfer back to Qingdao came through in 1991 — the transfer her father’s nephew Zhou Ling, Lijie’s father, spent years arranging. As Lijie put it, translating her father: the daughters were “very happy to get back, and get better — both life quality and better education.”
