Stephanie Kamiab — daughter of Jeanne Eesley Kamiab and Chuck’s first cousin — feeding baby Chuck a bottle on the couch at the Highland Ridge Road house near Lowell, Ohio, c. 1980.

Behind them hangs the large Chinese mountain-and-river landscape mural that decorated the Highland Ridge living room — almost certainly a souvenir of Will Eesley’s Japan-and-Hong-Kong travels, and part of the East-Asian design vocabulary he brought home to the house he designed and built. The mural is one of the recurring backdrops of Chuck’s early childhood at Highland Ridge; here it frames a cousin looking after the family’s newest member.
