Jeanne Eesley Kamiab
Details withheld — living person.
Aunt Jeanne is one of the keepers of the family memory this site rests on. Her contributions across this archive include the oral-history account of Stella Sunn — how she came to live with the Eesleys through the wartime journey via Hawaii, the Philippines, and finally Ohio — and a substantial set of the family photographs that appear in the artifacts collection. Her brother Charlie’s 12th-grade autobiography names her engagement and June 1965 wedding to Joseph “Joe” Kamiab; the Will and Peggy Eesley family portrait with Joe, c. 1965 captures the whole family — Will, Peggy, Charlie, Anne, Maggie, Jeanne herself, and Joe — together at or around that wedding. Her daughter Stephanie “Stephie” Kamiab is named in passing in Charlie’s late-1970 Vietnam letter to Terrie as the small child who already called Terrie “Aunt Terrie” before the wedding.
