Ullmann family group portrait (probable) — c. 1912

A formal outdoor family portrait of eight people against a clapboard wall, c. 1910–1914 — four seated (an elderly bearded man and an older woman at the center, flanked by two younger women) and four standing behind (three women and one man).

A working identification — not confirmed

The print carries no label. The working reading, proposed by Chuck, is that this is the Ullmann family: the bearded elder at the center is probably Frederick Ullmann (1854–1940), with his wife Elisabeth (Bode) Ullmann (1854–1930) seated beside him, surrounded by their grown children. In the early 1910s Frederick and Elisabeth were in their late fifties, which fits the seated couple’s apparent ages.

If the identification holds, the six younger people are among Frederick and Elisabeth’s eight children — which would place a young Clara Victoria Ullmann (b. 1885, ~27 here) and possibly Nettie (b. 1892, ~20) among the women, plus one of the two Ullmann sons (Fredrick William, b. 1881, or Henry Edward, b. 1883) as the standing man. Only one man appears, so at least one son is absent.

This remains a guess until the family can confirm the faces. It is recorded here so the photograph is in the archive and can be firmed up (or corrected) when a labeled copy or a family memory surfaces.
