Synthia (Cynthia) Bailey
also known as Cynthia Bailey; Cynthia (Bailey) Fleming

Synthia Bailey — recorded variously as Synthia and Cynthia — is the wife of Lewis Fleming and Chuck’s maternal 4×-great-grandmother on the Fleming line.
She was a daughter of Thomas Bailey and Nancy Bartlett, of Harrison County, Virginia (now West Virginia). On 14 March 1827, with the written consent of both her parents and Lewis’s father Edward, she married Lewis B Fleming, Cylis Hickerson officiating. Soon after the marriage the couple moved west to the Arnold’s Creek area in the Western District of Harrison County — the district that became Doddridge County in 1863, and the settlement where her grandson James Wesley Fleming would be born in 1855.
Her eldest son, Thomas Bailey Fleming (b. February 1830), carries her father’s name in his own — the clearest surviving trace of the Bailey family inside the Fleming line.
Synthia died about 1849; Lewis afterward married the widow Mary Lake.

Her parentage, marriage date, and siblings come from the Bailey Family Group Record (LDS form 0019) compiled and submitted by Robert Earl Wildermuth from Casselberry, Florida, c. 1990 — the same research pass that produced the Wildermuth/Fleming heritage material. The record lists her four siblings: Thornsberry Bailey Jr. (b. August 1804, d. 25 May 1857, Preston County), Sarah (m. William Vannort), Elizabeth (b. Taylor County; m. Dempsey Welch), and James (b. Taylor County).
